County DWS to continue community meetings on Maui’s water future

County of Maui Department of Water Supply (DWS) is continuing its community meetings on the future of Maui island’s drinking water supply with six in-person events in May. DWS is partnering with national nonprofit US Water Alliance to facilitate the meetings, which will help shape Maui’s water future.

Residents are invited to share their vision, learn about potential water supply options and connect with neighbors at the free, open-house style community events around Maui. Food, refreshments, family-friendly activities and up to 20 gift cards will be available at the events.

The meetings will be held in the following areas:

  • Lahaina: Monday, May 5, 5 to 7 p.m., Lahaina Civic Center
  • Kīhei: Tuesday, May 6, 5 to 7 p.m., Kenolio Community Center
  • Haʻikū: Wednesday, May 7, 5 to 7 p.m., Haiʻkū Park and Community Center
  • Keʻanae: Thursday, May 8, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Keʻanae Uka
  • Wailuku: Monday, May 12, 5 to 7 p.m., Velma McWayne Santos Community Center
  • Kula: Tuesday, May 13, 5 to 7 p.m., Von Tempsky Community Center Complex

To kick off the events, DWS held an online, introductory meeting with US Water Alliance on April 24. Staff from the nonprofit’s team were introduced, questions were answered, and residents’ priorities were shared.
